Group name: Really Useful Group (RUG).
Group aims: to help our members to offer and use your skills to help our u3a thrive. Its also for our Committee to let members know what we need. Two-way communication!
Our u3a needs all members to contribute to the best of their ability. From just attending events and enjoying good company or using your skills to make a more active contribution.
We have many small but important jobs where your your skills would be greatly appreciated if you would be willing to help out from time to time. Some are one-off jobs, some regular monthly jobs for a short while. Example activities we might occasionally need some help with:-
- Being a guide or Meeter & Greeter (M&G) at monthly meetings.
- Serving refreshments at events.
- Distributing posters or leaflets.
- Stuffing envelopes for example - to deliver membership cards or Newsletter/Bulletins.
- Manning a stall to recruit new members.
- Tidying up at our meeting rooms.
- Assisting Committee Members and Group Leaders with small but important tasks.
- more to be added ... watch this space.
A vital but bigger job
- Shadowing Committee Members or Group Leaders sometimes potentially to inherit their role.
Group events: Unlike most groups, RUG will not usually have any meetings to attend, just an exchange of ideas and volunteering to help. You do not join RUG - you are all members already.
Our Committee Members and Group Leaders will continue to plan, organise, and to do the BIG jobs on your behalf but your additional help is needed. U3a is a team effort with everyone helping each other! We would love to hear from you either as a volunteer or any good ideas you have.
More information: please contact our Group Leader, Sandra, by email above.
